How to Start Growing a Beard

Well, you’ve arrived at the part of your life where you’re at a crossroads.  To grow a beard or not.

Surprisingly, this can be a difficult decision to make, and many factors come into play.

First, it may take many years to get some facial hair to appear.  I didn’t start getting stubble until my early 20s, and it was just enough to have to have a goatee at most.

I mainly stuck with the goatees and nothing at all until my mid-30s or so.  This is where I pretty much started to let it go.

These are the steps I took to start my beard:

Let It Go

Surprisingly, the first step is to let it just go and be patient.  The hardest part is early on, that time frame where it just itches like mad, and this is where most guys just call it quits.

This is one of the main reasons why I just stuck with the goatee in the first place.

Once you get past the itchy phase, it’s pretty much smooth sailing or is it?  Your beard may start patchy, and things may not match up, but be patient.

This step may take a couple to a few months to conquer.

Skin Care

To help combat the itchiness, I just used your basic solidified coconut oil.

Not only does it soothe and calm the itch, but it gets those good oils into your skin to promote beard growth.

Skincare is massive for beard growth.  It’s pretty simple: healthy skin equals healthy beard growth.

Healthy Diet and Lifestyle

Another key factor to help start your beard journey is your diet.

Having a healthy diet and consuming your daily water intake makes a huge difference vs drinking carbonated drinks and processed foods.

Having a healthy lifestyle does help with beard growth.

Not only does your diet matter, but exercise gets your blood flowing to help promote growth.

Getting your 8 hours of sleep makes a huge difference; this is where your body produces its most hair growth.

Caring

During the growth period of your beard, I would stick to natural oils like coconut oil.  That is all that I used in the beginning.

As time went on, I experimented with different products, but I stuck to the basic natural stuff to help with your skin and your beard at the start.

Your future beard will thank you.

Patience

I really can’t stress this enough.  Patience, patience, patience, and you guessed it, patience.

The first few days, weeks, and months are going to test your patience, and I can confirm this.

If you can overcome the patient aspect, then you are on the right road to a great, healthy beard.

These are the key contributions that will help you start your great, healthy beard.
